OverviewReservationsTo reserve a place on a tour, you can click on the reservation button or call our toll-free number, 800-257-2226, and use your VISA or MasterCard for the $300 deposit. The balance of your payment is due by personal check, money order, or credit card 60 days before your tour begins. Reservations are honored first-come, first-served, and many trips fill early due to the small size of our groups. AccommodationsThe standard accommodation at our inns is double occupancy. Persons traveling alone will be assigned a room with someone of the same gender from the tour. SinglesAlthough we don't offer tours specifically limited to singles, we are always happy to let you know the composition of a tour to help you make your choice. ChildrenExperienced "bicycling" children over 10 years old are welcome on our Coast of Maine Tour if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Confirmation PacketWe will send you a confirmation packet with information about your trip as soon as we receive your deposit. Included in this packet are: Travel InsurancePlease purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance since we are unable to make any exceptions to our cancellation policy even for personal emergencies. Travel Insurance is extremely important. It covers the cost of your Bike Vermont trip and other travel expenses in case you cancel for any number of reasons. Compare prices and policies at www.insuremytrip.com or apply directly with CSA Travel at 800-348-9505 or www.csatravelprotection.com. Cars, Parking, Final DayThe Claremont Hotel provides ample parking for our tours. Your Bike Vermont leaders will bring you back to the hotel at the end of your tour. Most tours end between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on the final day (depending on the pace you ride). BicyclesYou can rent an excellent 27 gear Trek or Jamis hybrid bicycle from us. We offer both diamond ("men's") and mixte ("women's") framesframes, both with upright handlebars. Expertly maintained, they come equipped with a front handlebar bag, rear carrier, water bottle, mirror, and warning flag. Toe straps are available (free) on request. Bike rental is $100 for the Tour. Bringing Your Own BikeYour bicycle should have a minimum of 21 gears and the tires should be 28-32cm in width. Please have your bike thoroughly checked by a professional bike mechanic before you arrive. It is time and money well spent to ensure a pleasant and safe trip. Bikes are stored under cover at the inns each evening. HelmetsWe consider helmets an absolute necessity and all our riders are required to wear them. Quality helmets are made available to you at no charge. |
